2009 season:
Rory Sloane was another one of Adelaide’s first year players who made a successful transition from TAC Cup to the SANFL. He featured in the best for North Adelaide on a number of occasions and made his AFL debut in round 20 against Hawthorn at the MCG. It was an impressive display from Sloane gathering six handballs, one mark and seven tackles. His use of the ball by hand was a feature of his debut and while he didn’t register a kick, Sloane was pleased with his contribution on the night. "I was happy with the decisions I made in the game. There were a lot of handballs there to be used and I had a bit of focus on applying pressure as well,” Sloane said. “It was super exciting to make my debut. I was pretty nervous a couple of days before and in the lead-up to it, but it was awesome to get a game before the end of the year and just get a taste for AFL footy.”

David Noble’s 2009 review:
“Rory was another surprise packet. He demonstrated great composure under pressure in the game that he played and had a solid season with North Adelaide. He’s going to be a real contender in 2010 if he has a good pre-season. We’re keen to give him more game time. We won’t give those chances away, but if he continues to develop the way he has this year then there will be some exciting times ahead with him in the midfield.”

Career:
Sloane captained the Eastern Ranges U18 side in 2008 in Victoria's TAC Cup and demonstrated an ability to play at either end of the ground. His willingness to take on some of the biggest underage names in the game caught the recruiters' eyes. The Vic Metro representative, who has played on fellow Crow Patrick Dangerfield in the past, was assigned the role on talented West Australian and eventual No.6 pick, Chris Yarran, when the two sides did battle at the NAB AFL U18 Championships in June.
