The Adelaide Football Club is a significant supporter of female football in South Australia.

The Club is implementing new initiatives to support the growth and development of female participation.  In 2017 our female football community programs officers saw over 11,000 females across our various programs.

The aim is to engage and encourage all female age groups in schools and the community to have a go at AFL, whilst creating opportunities for young talented female athletes to pursue their dream of playing AFLW for the Crows.

CROWS CUP CARNIVALS

The ‘Crows Cup Carnival’ is a one day girls-only interschool football carnival aimed at encouraging young girls to give football a go in a fun and safe environment.

The Adelaide Football Club, together with the SANFL, deliver eight metropolitan Primary School carnivals across Adelaide in Term 1 and Term 2.

The carnival is also delivered in regional areas, as well as being targeted at some high schools.

The nine-a-side carnival supports the female football pathway in South Australia, promotes the benefits of physical activity and introduces positive role models.

Each school registered for the carnival will receive a showbag of goodies for their students and school.

Testaments

Tenison Woods College:
"All the girls attempted every drill presented to them, even if they were a little apprehensive at first.  One of our five-year-olds was hesitant to jump on the tackle bag, but Anne was fabulous with her and held her hand as she ran in and jumped on the bag.  That little girl's expression was priceless when she stood up and ran back to her place, so proud of what she had achieved."

Hawthorndene Primary School:
"Just wanted to say thank you to Anne and Chelsea for coming out today, from all accounts the girls had an absolute ball!  The teachers were also extremely impressed with how well you ran the clinics.  We are really looking forward to getting out to the carnival in a few weeks and if you ever have opportunities like these in the future please let us know.”

Munno Para Primary School:
“The footy session was wonderful for our girls to experience. Your enthusiasm, sense of fun and professionalism was greatly appreciated and the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves whilst learning new skills. It can be difficult to encourage some students to join in physical activities but your enthusiasm, encouragement and positive feedback really motivated them to participate”
