What is the Adelaide Football Club Next Generation Academy (NGA)?

The Adelaide Football Club Next Generation Academy (NGA) is a joint initiative between the AFL and the club aimed at increasing the opportunities for young people to learn about and play the game of Australian Rules football. Australian football is becoming the sport of choice for diverse communities. Up to 25% of current AFL lists are from diverse backgrounds (14% Multicultural and 11% Indigenous).

Our Academy model is targeted at Multicultural and Indigenous communities who may not have as much opportunity to be involved in football programs. In addition, we aim to value-add and see our Next Generation Academy as a way of assisting to increase the talent pool of young aspiring athletes who want to play our great game, and who may participate in the State and National Pathway programs along the way.

Our model has been established for talented and aspiring males and females between the ages of 11 to 18, who are willing to be supported by the Adelaide Football Club along their football development journey. There is a particular focus on multicultural, indigenous and under-represented talent in the current game. The Adelaide Football Club Next Generation Academy will operate in collaboration with and out of the following aligned SANFL hubs and as directed by the AFL: Central District Football Club, Glenelg Football Club, North Adelaide Football Club, Sturt Football Club and the Eastern side of the APY Lands.
