Crows Nest Coaching Clinic

Over 400 young Crows Nest junior members joined in the Crows Nest coaching clinic on Sunday August 9 on Max Basheer Reserve.

Crows Nest ambassador Nathan Van Berlo welcomed all the participants along to the coaching clinic on behalf of the players on a very cold and wet morning.

The Crows players, coaches and Claude the Crow joined in the coaching clinic and enjoyed teaching the skills of Australian Rules football to the younger generation.

An autograph session and barbeque with the Crows players followed the coaching clinic and all children who participated in the clinic received a free sausage.

Special thanks to all the Crows Nest members who attended. Also Crows Nest Members don’t forget about the Crows Nest Christmas party on Saturday December 5 at the Crows Shed.

From a Crows fan,

Hi Neil,

Congratulations to you, your players and staff for the wonderful Crows Nest coaching clinic last Sunday. I took my sports-mad eight-year-old grandson, who had one of the great experiences of his life, but as I watched him enjoy himself I was most impressed with the way your players contributed to the day.

For our group, Andy Otten gave the boys and girls such a warm welcome and with Jarrhan Jacky provided such fun that the kids’ enjoyment of the day was assured from the start. I think Andy and Jarrhan also had a great deal of fun.

The sight of the big “Truck” involved in a handball exercise with a little girl who did not have a partner was one of the highlights, but for my young Liam, the absolute pinnacle was being coached by the club coach. He said that you talked to him more than the other coaches, and you might be interested in what he told me on the way home.

“Neil Craig said that if you make a mistake, you have to start the exercise all over again until you get it right,” and during a kick and a catch in my backyard afterwards he definitely put that into practice.

Thank you, and all the players, for making it such a great day for Liam. Let me also add that the Crows Nest membership that I have given Liam for his birthday for the past three years has been a wonderful bonding tool for an old bloke like me and my grandson.

Go Crows,

Leo Faulkner

Crows Nest Christmas Party

On Saturday December 6, 2008 the inaugural Crows Nest Christmas Party was held at the Crows Shed. There was plenty of fun to be had and with the various activities set up throughout the Crows Shed and stretching out onto Max Basheer Reserve, it was great entertainment for the children. 450 Crows Nest members turned up on the day ready to share the Christmas spirit with 20 Crows players.

The day consisted of a Laser skirmish, where Nathan van Berlo was consistently getting picked on by all the kids, jumping castles, Claude the Crow was seen to be flying around from wall to wall in the castle, face painters, ‘Life Be In It’ activities and loads of football related activities. With players spread across the activities every kid had a chance to get an autograph from their favourite player.

In a great surprise for everyone Father Christmas made a special visit and showered the children in Crows Gifts. Every child on the day received free Crows giveaways, an icy pole, a sausage, drink and a show bag full of goodies.

Festival Photography was there to join in on the celebrations and they took many photos of the day. If you would like to buy any of the photos simply go to the following link www.festival-photo.com.au and purchase from the website.

Merry Christmas and see you all in 2009

Go Crows!!
