Brent Reilly headed a long list of good SANFL performers on the weekend.

Returning after a hamstring strain, Reilly racked up 46 possessions (30 kicks, 16 handballs) for Sturt in its big win over West Adelaide at Waikerie in the Riverland.

Playing at half-back, he used the ball well and played out the entire match. Brodie Martin (17 kicks, five handballs) was also among Sturt’s best on a wing.

Myke Cook was high among the Panthers’ best in their loss to Glenelg. Cook had 13 kicks and six handballs, kicked two goals in the first term and also had three goal assists in one of his best performances of the season.

Taylor Walker had a big impact in his first SANFL game of the season after playing the first 13 rounds in the AFL. He was outstanding for Norwood in the first half, kicking six goals.

Central District took over the game in the second half and he did not score any more goals after the break but he finished with 15 possessions and eight marks. Aaron Kite won a late recall to the league side and made the most of the opportunity, playing well in defence. He had 12 kicks, seven marks and eight handballs.

He spent a lot of time matched against Crows rookie Ricky Henderson, who also did some good work in collecting 11 possessions and a goal. Will Young (11 kicks, six marks) was excellent at half-back for Norwood. He was strong in the air and read the play well.

Brett Burton’s comeback highlighted the Eagles’ win over Port Magpies at Woodville. In his first game for 11 months, Burton had 16 kicks, two handballs, eight marks and kicked 4.1 as a half forward.

There will be more on the website in a separate story later this afternoon – plus video of his press conference and some highlights from his game. Jared Petrenko was also prominent for the Eagles. He had eight kicks, five handballs and six marks, and tackled strongly.

In the SANFL reserves, Brian Donnelly (Glenelg) kicked 3.1 from four kicks and four marks. Tom Lee returned with Sturt after a long absence with a knee injury and had three possessions.
