Jason Porplyzia will play for West Adelaide on Friday night as 13 Crows prepare for action in round one of the SANFL.

Porplyzia has been given a week in the SANFL to regain match fitness before making a return to Adelaide’s side. He is joined by rookie Chris Schmidt, who will start on a wing for the Bloods.

Two Crows will line up for their opponent North Adelaide. Rookie Matthew Wright has been named in a forward pocket and Phil Davis will start in a back pocket.

South Adelaide take on Sturt at Hickinbotham Oval at Noarlunga on Saturday with three Crows in action. Shaun McKernan leads the ruck for the Panthers while Daniel Talia, Adelaide’s first pick in the 2009 draft, starts in a back pocket.

Rookie Matthew Jaensch has been named on the wing for the Double Blues and fellow rookie Aidan Riley will play for Sturt’s reserves.

Glenelg host Norwood at Gliderol Stadium at 4.10pm with James Sellar at centre half forward for the Tigers. He will line up on Will Young, who is at centre half back for the Redlegs if not required for Adelaide’s trip to Perth.

Central District play Port Adelaide in the final game of the weekend on Saturday night at Hamra Homes Oval. Rookie Ricky Henderson starts in a forward pocket for the Bulldogs and new recruit Jack Gunston has been named on an extended interchange.

Irish rookie Brian Donnelly completed a full week of training and will play for Central District reserves.

The Eagles have the opening round bye.
