Ruckman Jonathon Griffin was one of Central District’s best in their big win over North Adelaide on Sunday.

Griffin had 27 hitouts and was dominant in the first half and he also collected 13 possessions and kicked two goals. Jack Gunston was very effective also for the Bulldogs with three goal assists and a goal himself from eight possessions.

Rookie Matthew Wright was best afield for the Roosters with 29 possessions. He was good in close and had a good work rate all day. Tony Armstrong had 20 possessions before half time and had great urgency and worked hard to run and receive, but was quiet in the second half when Central District were on top.

On Friday night Will Young and Taylor Walker performed well for the Redlegs in a big upset win over Sturt. Walker kicked two goals from six shots and finished with 14 possessions. Young was used mainly in defence and played with great control in beating his direct opponent and finished with 12 possessions and a goal.

Daniel Talia played well in South Adelaide’s loss to Port Magpies on Saturday afternoon. He had seven kicks and eight handballs playing on opponents like Cloke and Trengrove and his use of the ball under pressure were very good. Shaun McKernan had a quieter day with nine possessions but played well when in the ruck with 19 hitouts.

In the SANFL reserves Luke Thompson had a big second half for the Eagles. He kicked three goals after half time and finished with 19 possessions and nine marks in a good performance. Aidan Riley, who was left out of Sturt’s final league team, had a quieter game than in previous weeks and finished with 14 possessions while Brian Donnelly had seven kicks and five handballs for the Bulldogs.
