Graham Johncock was best for Port Adelaide Magpies in their nine point loss to Glenelg on Sunday.

Johncock, returning from a shoulder injury, gathered 16 kicks, seven handballs and kicked two goals in a strong performance and is available for AFL selection this week.

For the Tigers, James Sellar had 14 possessions, three marks and 14 hitouts and worked hard all day, sometimes for little reward.

In Sturt’s narrow loss to West Adelaide at Mannum on Sunday, Matthew Jaensch had 14 possessions and was tagged for a large majority of the game.

Adelaide’s Central District listed players had a good day out against South Adelaide on Saturday.

In the Bulldogs’ big win, Brad Symes again played well in his return from a long injury lay off. He had 16 kicks, nine handballs and seven marks. Jack Gunston kicked two goals from 25 possessions and his skills in wet and windy conditions stood out. Ricky Henderson kicked one goal and had 14 possessions in a solid game.

For the Panthers, Daniel Talia had 14 possessions and eight marks in a strong defensive game despite his side’s 10 goal loss. Shaun McKernan played in the ruck and up forward and had 21 hitouts and seven possessions.

In the SANFL reserves, Jarrhan Jacky was best for the Eagles in their loss to Norwood. He had 11 kicks, nine handballs and used the ball well in tough conditions. Luke Thompson played in defence for the Eagles and had the better of his opponent with 10 possessions in a good defensive effort.

Brian Donnelly produced another strong defensive game for Central District with 11 possessions and two marks and was the Bulldogs’ best tall defender. Sam Shaw had a standout second half for Glenelg reserves. He finished with 20 possessions and had a number of centre clearances and used his pace well.

Aidan Riley (Sturt) pulled out before the game because of illness.
