Trent Hentschel kicked three goals in his return to the SANFL on Saturday.

Hentschel - who had missed three games with a hamstring strain - lined up with South’s reserves as the Eagles had the bye. He finished with 14 kicks, 10 marks and three handballs in three quarters. Hentschel started as a tall defender but had most impact as a forward in the third term, when he took six marks.

Sturt didn’t have a good day at Alberton but Brodie Martin continued to show some good signs as he continues his return from a knee reconstruction. He had only 11 possessions but is looking physically stronger and is gaining confidence. Rookie Aidan Riley was serviceable for Sturt, collecting 10 possessions. He started at half back and then had a run in the midfield before finishing in a back pocket.

Myke Cook had 15 possessions for South Adelaide in its loss to Norwood. He played at half back or on the ball. Shaun McKernan lasted only a quarter for South because of illness. In this time he had two shots on goal for two points.

For the winners, Will Young (15 possessions, three marks) again controlled his defensive position.

This weekend in the SANFL there is a full round of four matches. Sturt has the bye.
