Jack Gunston tasted SANFL Premiership success on Sunday as Central District defeated Norwood by six points in a thrilling Grand Final.

In the closest encounter since the 1999 Grand Final, which Norwood lost to Port Adelaide by seven points, the Bulldogs held off a fast finishing Norwood who kicked the last three goals of the game.

Gunston played up forward and in defence and had nine kicks, four handballs and five marks in a solid game. His opponent Davis got away from him in the last quarter to kick a few goals but Gunston was strong in the air the whole game and the benefit of playing in a SANFL Grand Final will be great for his development.

In the SANFL reserves Grand Final, Aidan Riley's Sturt went down to Port Magpies by nine points in another close encounter.

The Double Blues were wasteful in front of goal kicking 8.15 but finished the game strongly only to fall just short. Riley had a quieter game playing in the midfield and in defence.
