Brad Symes has pushed his case for AFL selection with a best on ground performance for Central District in the final weekend of SANFL trial games.

In a big win over North Adelaide, Symes played on the wing, in the midfield and at half back and collected 18 kicks, 17 handballs and 10 marks.

Jack Gunston was also busy for the Bulldogs with 11 kicks, seven handballs, five marks and kicked two goals playing across half forward and the wing. Rookie Matthew Wright was good for the Roosters in the midfield with 34 possessions and a goal.

Another rookie Chris Schmidt also performed well for West Adelaide’s seniors against Norwood. In a defensive role, he had 13 kicks, seven handballs and five marks and held his opponents well.

Luke Thompson had 14 disposals and five marks for the Eagles in their game against Glenelg, and controlled his opponents well in the second half while providing run from defence.

Myke Cook started well for South Adelaide with eight disposals but received an injury in the second quarter and did not play any further part in the game.

Rookie Tim Milera had 11 kicks, five handballs, six marks and kicked a goal for Port Adelaide Magpies and used the ball well in the midfield and up forward.

In the SANFL reserves, rookie Lachlan Roach had an encouraging performance with 23 possessions for North Adelaide playing mainly on a wing.

2010 draftee Jarryd Lyons performed well for Glenelg’s reserves collecting 12 kicks, five handballs and three goals in the midfield and half forward.

Rookie Sam Martyn had a quieter day on the wing for the Eagles and Jake von Bertouch kicked one goal playing up forward.
