The pressure for spots in the Adelaide line-up has been underlined by a number of strong performances in the SANFL on the weekend.

There were 19 Crows listed players involved in the four local games.

Sturt, with its seven Crows all in good touch, held on for a six point win over Port Adelaide while South Adelaide, Norwood and Glenelg were the other winners.

The Eagles had the round two bye.

SANFL player summary:

Brodie Martin (Sturt): 16 kicks, 9 handballs, one goal. Is in good form playing in the midfield and across half back. Had a big impact on the game.

Richard Tambling (Sturt): 8 kicks, 8 handballs. Rotated through the midfield and half back.  His tackling and pressure was a highlight.

Josh Jenkins (Sturt): 4 kicks, 7 handballs, 18 hit outs. Improved in the ruck as the game went on and helped create several late clearances.

Sam Kerridge (Sturt): 13 kicks, 4 handballs. His first game for the Club and he made an impression , particularly across half back in the second half.

Matt Jaensch (Sturt): 10 kicks, 10 handballs. Ball use was of a high standard and also took a couple of contested marks.

Aidan Riley (Sturt): 6 kicks, 16 handballs.  Started at half back and had his biggest influence when on the ball, winning a number of clearances late in the game.

Tim McIntyre (Sturt, rookie): 12 kicks, four handballs, 6.1. Had a slow start but finished with eight shots on goal as a small forward.

Luke Brown (Norwood):  8 kicks, 6 handballs. Played at half forward and had a strong first half before fading. Used the ball well.

James Craig (North, rookie):  4 kicks, 3 handballs, 29 hit outs, 1 goal.  Was named among North’s best, playing in the ruck and forward line.

Will Young (Norwood, rookie): 9 kicks, 3 handballs.  Was playing well before backing  into a contest and hurting a shoulder.

Brad Crouch (West): 11 kicks, 10 handballs. More involved this week, especially when in the midfield where he won five clearances.

Ben Dowdell (South, rookie): 3 kicks, 3 handballs, 20 hit outs. Back in the reserves this week.

Mitch Grigg (Norwood): 14 kicks, 9 handballs. Played on the wing in the reserves.

Lewis Johnston (North): 8 kicks, 2 handballs, 3.1. Started in defence but then kicked three second half goals after being moved forward.

Rory Laird (West, rookie): Showed some good signs in the reserves and was named in the Club’s best.

Jarryd Lyons (Glenelg): 10 kicks, 4 handballs. Solid game, worked hard and was good inside packs.

Sam Shaw (Glenelg): 14 kicks, 5 marks. Clearly won his defensive position and also worked hard to create play.

Shaun McKernan (South): 6 kicks, 2 handballs, 10 hit outs, 2.2. Didn’t win a lot of the ball but did provide a target in attack and then lifted South when shifted into the ruck in the last term.

Brad Symes (Central District): 17 kicks, 14 handballs. Another good game, with his high work rate standing out.
