Adelaide has today signed two “Category B, Non-Registered” rookie players.

These players are eligible to be listed as rookies as they have not been registered with or played in an Australian Football competition in the past three years.

Jack Osborn, a 205cm Tasmanian, and Tim Klaosen a 196cm South Australian, will join the Crows football program this month.

List Manager David Noble said the duo would add to the ongoing development and progression of the Crows' list.

“The Club is excited about the opportunity to develop these talented athletes through the ‘Category B’ rookie list avenue,” Noble said.

“Both players are mature age and bring with them great attitude and work ethic. They will need to work hard to develop their football skills but they have some exceptional athletic abilities.

“They are both competitive types who have played football at junior levels, so we believe we can work with them and develop them as they both clearly understand the hard work & commitment required to transform into AFL players.”

Osborn, 22, returned to Australia to play with the Gold Coast Blaze NBL team earlier this year having completed four years in the Adams State University basketball program in Colorado. He played with North Hobart Junior Football Club in his development years.

Klaosen, 22, played for Sturt Sabres in the Central ABL basketball league in South Australia. He played with the Goodwood Saints Football Club in his junior development years.

Adelaide now has three players on its Category B Rookie List (the maximum allowed), after last year listing Ben Dowdell, who this season played senior football with SANFL club South Adelaide.

These ‘Category B’ rookies are separate to traditional or ‘Category A’ rookies.

Current ‘Category A’ rookies Rory Laird, Dylan Orval and forward Tim McIntyre, who made his AFL debut against Port Adelaide in round 15, will remain on the rookie list next season, while former rookie Ian Callinan has been offered a place on the Club’s senior list.

This currently leaves Adelaide with one selection in December’s NAB Rookie Draft.
