A matter of degrees
Matt Wright had a bit of fun after a mix-up at the Club recently. A parcel arrived at the Crows administration building addressed to a ‘Matthew Wright’. Naturally, the parcel was taken to the football department where it found its way to the Crows midfielder. He opened it to find a neatly framed university degree, confirming ‘Matthew James Wright’ was now a qualified teacher – the only problem was Wrighty had never studied a day of teaching. Turns out the Bachelor of Education certificate actually belonged to the partner of a Crows staffer (also named Matthew Wright), who had organised for it to be sent to her at work after being framed. This didn’t stop a few larrikins in the footy department presenting Crow Matthew Wright with the degree in a mock graduation ceremony.

Little Thommo’s tears
Poor Ava Thompson got more than she bargained for when she jumped into dad Scott’s arms in the rooms immediately after Adelaide’s win over St Kilda. Ava didn’t want to get down as Thommo joined his teammates in the circle for the Club song. But the singing, chanting and cheering was too much for the little Thompson, who burst into tears clinging on tightly to her dad.

Mid-season nuptials
Injured rookie Jack Osborn was granted a few days away from the Club earlier this month to attend his sister Rebecca’s wedding … in Romania. Rebecca resides in Australia with her now husband, but the groom originally hails from Iasi where his family still lives. It was a whirlwind nine-day trip for the former basketballer, who is on the road back from hip surgery.

Odd Crows out
A couple of young fans raised eyebrows at North Melbourne’s junior coaching clinic last month. In a sea of blue and while Kangaroos jumpers, it was hard to miss the boy and girl sporting Crows guernseys with the No.35 on the back. A little bit of research revealed that the pair was actually the niece and nephew of Crow Shaun McKernan, whose older brother Corey played 196 games with North.

License to drive
After being on his ‘L’ plates for more than two years, draftee Sam Siggins is finally a licensed driver. Siggins relied on teammates to drive him around for his first few months in Adelaide, but now has his ‘P’ plates and his own set of wheels. Jared Petrenko also had a few lessons behind the wheel recently, learning to drive a manual in the Woodville-West Torrens mini-van.
