It was Adelaide’s awesome foursome who led the way for the Crows in the AFL Fantasy stakes during Balfours Showdown XXXVII, with a familiar duo at the head of the list.

The evergreen Scott Thompson ($541,083) once again top-scored for the Crows with a match-high 141 Fantasy points. Thompson amassed 34 possessions, seven marks, seven tackles and a goal in another vintage performance from the 31-year-old midfielder.

‘Thommo’ is arguably the most in-form player in AFL Fantasy at the moment. The dual Crows Club Champion has averaged an amazing 136 points and added over $60k to his price in the past three games. It’s hard to believe that Thompson slumped to a price of just $428,748 back in Round Five.

The durable mid remains largely overlooked by Fantasy coaches with just 1.55 per cent ownership across the competition. Thompson could provide a reliable point of difference to any midfield as Fantasy finals approach.

Two-time Showdown Medallist Sam Jacobs ($475,623) starred in the clash with Port Adelaide, notching 119 points from 36 hit-outs, 19 possessions and a season-high three goals.

Jacobs has been a model of consistency in 2014 and could be headed for his inaugural All-Australian berth if his form continues. His Fantasy scores also reflect his outstanding output. ‘Sauce’ has surpassed 100 points on 10 occasions from Adelaide’s 15 starts this season, and remains the most valuable ruckman in AFL Fantasy for 2014.

With a generous break even of just 63 for this week’s clash with the Giants, Jacobs could soon soar beyond the half-million dollar mark.

Brad Crouch ($430,889) and Tom Lynch ($340,617) should be firmly on your Fantasy radar after the pair scored 87 points apiece against the Power.

Crouch is a genuine star of the future and will only improve with more time on the park. The 20-year-old midfielder looked right at home in his first AFL game since the Round Two Showdown back in March, and is a Fantasy bargain at almost $70k below his 2014 starting price.

Crouch has a break even of 92 for Round 16, but don’t be surprised if the 2013 NAB Rising Star Runner Up cracks the Fantasy ton against the Giants on Saturday afternoon.

The versatile Tom Lynch looks a bargain buy for Fantasy coaches on a budget. The 2013 Crows leading goalkicker knows how to post a huge Fantasy score, evidenced by his 101-point performance against the Bulldogs in Round Six.

A luckless run of injuries have curtailed the 23-year-old’s season so far, but the long-awaited return of ‘The Chief’ could provide a late-season injection for the Crows and Fantasy coaches alike.
