Scott Thompson and David Mackay remain a good chance to play in Adelaide’s twilight clash with Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday.

Mackay missed the Club’s last game against Hawthorn because of a hamstring complaint, while Thompson was substituted out of the 12-point loss because of back/hamstring tightness. The AFL’s split round has given the influential pair a fortnight to recover from the minor injuries.

If Thompson recovers, he will play his 100th consecutive game against the Pies. Thompson’s streak of matches dates back to Round Nine, 2010. This is the second-longest current active streak in the AFL behind only Josh Kennedy’s current mark of 123 consecutive games for Hawthorn and now the Sydney Swans, which dates back to Round 14, 2009.

The Pies will be without star ball winner Dane Swan and former skipper Nick Maxwell, who announced his retirement last week.

Livewire forwards Charlie Cameron and Jared Petrenko and young midfielder Sam Kerridge could also resume this weekend. Cameron has missed six weeks with groin soreness, while Petrenko has battled stress fractures in his leg. Kerridge has discarded the moon boot protecting his sore foot.

Goalkicker Lewis Johnston is about a month away from a return from a hand injury. Captain Nathan van Berlo continues to progress well in his rehabilitation from a ruptured Achilles, but his chances of playing again this season are likely to be dictated by Adelaide’s playing form.

The Crows will have an open training session on Saturday (July 26) from 10:00am at AAMI Stadium before flying to Melbourne ahead of Sunday’s big game. The match will be Richard Douglas’ 150th and James Podsiadly’s 100th.
