Crows Physical Performance Manager Nick Poulos will be a key speaker at the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association Conference to be held at Etihad Stadium this weekend.

Poulos, who will head Adelaide’s fitness and conditioning department for a fourth season next year, will address a host of national industry leaders at the three-day meet.

In a sign of the caliber of Adelaide’s conditioning team, Crows GPS Analyst Jarryd Wallace and Physical Performance coach Will Morgan will also have their work presented at the conference. Morgan is then scheduled to attend the New Zealand High Performance Strength and Conditioning Conference later this month.

It caps off a busy offseason for Poulos, who has left no stone unturned in piecing together the Club’s 2015 physical performance program.

Huge summer ahead for Crows: Phil Walsh

While the players enjoyed a much-needed break from football, Poulos and many of his fellow fitness and conditioning staff continued to work hard behind the scenes in preparation for the players’ return.

But it was Poulos in particular who went the extra mile.

He spent two days in the Middle Eastern country of Qatar visiting the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence and the Aspetar National Sports Medicine Research & Education Centre.

The world-class facility, which regularly contributes its research findings to various peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, specialises in a number of sports sciences including biomechanics, biochemistry and sports psychology.

Poulos previously worked at the Academy for nearly four years before joining the Crows at the end of 2011.

The Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence features the largest indoor sporting dome in the world.

He then flew across the Mediterranean to Europe to attend the International Conference on Strength Training in Italy. The three-day event featured an array of keynote speakers presenting the latest innovations in the world of training, nutrition and elite performance.

Poulos coordinated the Club’s 1-4 year players alongside Midfield coach Scott Camporeale on their first day back to full training in the absence of Senior Coach Phil Walsh, who continues his own overseas itinerary at a European leadership convention.
