A hand-made Trek bike used by Crows captain Nathan van Berlo has been placed on auction in the latest Crows Foundation fundraiser to support South Australian children in need.

The bicycle played a pivotal role in Nathan van Berlo’s recovery from a ruptured Achilles. The Crows skipper spent countless hours saddled up on the bike as part of his rigorous rehabilitation program.

The Trek Project cycle, which retails for $9,900, was hand-made and painted in Crows colours in Wisconsin.

It was kindly donated to Nathan van Berlo by Trek and Bicycle Express.

Van Berlo is not alone in his passion for cycling at West Lakes. New Senior Coach Phil Walsh and incoming Development Coach Ryan O’Keefe are also avid cyclists in their own right.

The auction will be open until December 12, providing a great opportunity to spoil yourself or a loved one for Christmas. The opening bid has been set at a just $5000.

We also thank the entire Redline Cycling peloton who participated in a three-day fundraising event in October. The group covered 411 kilometres and raised over $10,000 for the Crows Foundation.

The event was a huge success, despite a nasty fall on the home stretch from Club staffer Richard Egan. We wish Richard all the best in his recovery following his four-week hospital stay.
