Thanks in part to the generous support of fans and the football community, the Adelaide Football Club has raised in excess of $24,000 to support those affected by the SA Bushfires.
Led by new captain Taylor Walker, Sam Jacobs and Matt Jaensch, Crows players donated signed guernseys and boots to be auctioned online, with all proceeds going to the Bushfire Emergency Relief Fund and CFS Foundation.
The prized football memorabilia, which included the red boots Eddie Betts wore when he kicked his Goal of the Year contender from his pocket at Adelaide Oval against North Melbourne, attracted bids totalling $12,090. Inspired by the goodwill of supporters, the Crows have matched the contribution, taking the total amount raised to $24,180.
The most sought-after item was a BLK home guernsey signed by the entire 2015 playing squad, which fetched $1,800. A second home, BLK team-signed jumper and a team-signed clash jumper each attracted bids of $1,700. After the captaincy announcement, Walker’s boots skyrocketed to $1,100 to be the most expensive pair in the auction.

The auction followed a visit by Walker, Jacobs and Jaensch to CFS volunteers and members of the MFS at the One Tree Hill Fire Station earlier this month to show their appreciation for the efforts of the people, who battled the serious Adelaide Hills blaze.
