Adelaide’s State League team will play its first SANFL trial game against the Port Adelaide Magpies at Alberton Oval on Saturday, March 21.

The game was orginally planned as a curtain-raiser to the Crows’ final NAB Challenge match against the Power later that afternoon at AAMI Stadium.

The State League trial now has a confirmed start time of 11.30am, allowing time for supporters to travel to West Lakes for the 3.40pm NAB Challenge game.

Fans will receive free entry to the SANFL trial.

The SANFL Crows will then line up for a second trial against West Adelaide at Richmond Oval on Saturday morning, April 4 a week out from the side’s season-opener against North Adelaide at Prospect.

GM Football Administration Phil Harper said it was a win-win for both Crows teams.

“It’s a good scenario for both our AFL and SANFL sides,” Harper said.

“Pre-season games are always an important part of our preparation for the season proper.

“Port Adelaide performed well last year at AFL and SANFL level, so it’ll be a great test for us heading in to Round One.”

Harper expects a big turnout to witness the ‘Showdown’ double-header.

“It should be a great day for South Australian footy fans,” he said.

“There will be plenty of on-field action for people to enjoy all day. Hopefully we get a big crowd.”

Crows ticketed members will enjoy free access to all of Adelaide’s SANFL matches during the premiership season.
