Patrick Dangerfield says he is yet to make up his mind about his playing future.

Dangerfield, 24, is set to become a restricted free agent at season's end and has been linked with a move to Geelong, close to his family's home at Moggs Creek.

"I understand people want to know, but I don't have a clear answer at the moment," Dangerfield told Adelaide radio station FIVEaa.

"What I will say is I am totally committed to our football club. This season for us is all about what we can do as a collective.

"We're about returning to the finals, because that's something we've missed out on in the last couple of seasons."

Dangerfield also backed teammate Taylor Walker to thrive as captain.

Walker was appointed as Adelaide skipper ahead of other highly credentialed Crows including Dangerfield and Rory Sloane.

He took over from Nathan van Berlo, who led the Crows from 2011 until the end of the 2014 season.

"I think anyone in the leadership group could have captained the Club," Dangerfield said.

"I think with the appointment of Taylor Walker we've only seen the tip of the iceberg in how good he is going to become in that role.

"I was certainly disappointed for Nathan (van Berlo). He has done an unbelievable job and the disappointing thing for me is that he's been reported in a negative way quite often throughout his captaincy.

"But I'll tell you what, within the four walls of the Adelaide Football Club, there's no one more highly regarded than Nathan and the job that he's done."
