Adelaide’s SANFL skipper Ian Callinan has been named in the 2015 SANFL State Squad to play the WAFL at Lathlain Park in Perth on May 23.

Callinan is the only Crow selected in the 31-man squad, which was announced on Friday morning.

The skilful veteran kicked three goals in his first State Game last year to help SA to a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the VFL.

Aged 32, Callinan is the second-eldest member of the squad behind former Crows rookie and Magarey Medallist Paul Thomas.

AFL-listed players, including rookies, were ineligible for selection in the squad.

Former Crows Jason Porplyzia, Chris Schmidt, Luke Thompson and Jared Petrenko have also been named in the initial squad chosen by Chairman of Selectors Stephen Rowe, State coach Graham Cornes and assistants Peter Caven, James Gowans and Michael Handby.

The squad includes representatives from all 10 SANFL clubs and will be finalised in the coming weeks. The team’s captain and vice-captain will also be announced at a later date, with the side to train together four times at AAMI Stadium ahead of the clash against the Sandgropers.
