Saturday’s clash at Spotless Stadium will see the fourth and fifth-placed teams on the AFL ladder go head to head.

Adelaide has won all five meetings between the two sides, including the most recent match by 68 points in Western Sydney in Round 16 last season.

The in-form Giants will be aiming to record three straight wins for the first time in their history at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.

Scott Thompson is set to play his 231st game for the Crows this week since his debut with the Club in 2005. This will take the two time Club Champion, who also played 39 games with Melbourne, level with Michael Doughty in eighth spot on the all-time Club list.

The most games in Adelaide’s history are Andrew McLeod (340 games, 1995-2010), Tyson Edwards (321 games, 1995-2010), Mark Ricciuto (312 games, 1993-2007), Ben Hart (311 games, 1992-2006), Nigel Smart (278 games, 1991-2004), Simon Goodwin (275 games, 1997-2010), Mark Bickley (272 games, 1991-2003), Michael Doughty (231 games, 2000-12), Scott Thompson (230 games, 2005-current) and Ben Rutten (229 games, 2003-14).

Thompson is averaging 9.4 clearances a game this season – more than any other player.

The Crows (third) and Giants (fourth) are among the highest-scoring teams in the competition this season. Both sides have also improved their defence this season, with only one point separating the two; Adelaide has conceded 572 points while the Giants have given up 573.

Adelaide (second) and GWS (fourth) are also both ranked top-four for inside 50ms.

Adelaide will need to halt Greater Western Sydney’s running game to keep its unbeaten record against the Giants intact. GWS like to run and carry, ranked equal-first in total handballs. The Giants have the lowest kick-to-handball ratio of any team, while the Crows have the highest.

The Giants are ranked second in the AFL for uncontested possessions, but 15th for contested possessions. In contrast, Adelaide is fourth in contested possessions and 10th in uncontested.

Tom Lynch holds the records for most Crows goals in a game against GWS. Lynch bagged 10 at Spotless Stadium in Round Seven, 2013.

The Giants are efficient going inside their forward 50m, scoring from 51.1 per cent of their entries – ranked No.2 in the AFL.

Star GWS midfielder Dylan Shiel is ranked ninth in the competition for total disposals (200). Teammate Adam Treloar is 12th on 192. Shiel is third in handball receives (96), while Treloar and Lachie Whitfield are also in the top 15. Former No.1 draft pick Whitfield is ranked fourth in uncontested possessions (135).

Eddie Betts (26 goals) and Jeremy Cameron (24 goals) are ranked second and third in the Coleman Medal race. Taylor Walker is fifth with 21 goals, while Giant Cam McCarthy is two behind on 19. Betts is also third in score assists (16). Betts booted five goals last time these two teams met.

Jeremy Cameron has taken more marks on a lead (26) than any player in the competition. Crows captain Taylor Walker is third with 24. Cameron’s partner in crime Cam McCarthy has taken 19.

Ruckmen Sam Jacobs (second) and Shane Mumford (fourth) are both top-four for hit-outs.

Patrick Dangerfield is fifth in the AFL for tackles (45). Mumford leads the way for GWS (42).

Giants co-captain Callan Ward is fifth for inside 50ms (36) two ahead of Dangerfield (34).

Defender Heath Shaw is a key playmaker for the Giants, ranked third for rebound 50ms (42).
