Talented young Indigenous footballers took centre stage in the curtain raiser at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

The grand finals of the McLeod Challenge were played prior to the AFL clash between Adelaide and Fremantle.

In the boys division Henley High School defeated Salisbury High School 10.5 (65) to 5.2 (32).

In the girls division Le Fevre High 9.4. (58) defeated Westminster School/Mannum Community College 5.10 (40).

The McLeod Challenge, in its third year, is part of the Adelaide Football Club’s Indigenous programs led by Andrew McLeod and his wife Rachael.

More than 250 Indigenous Year 8 and 9 students took part in the round robin competition held at the Adelaide Football Club in mid-May.
