Crows SANFL captain Ian Callinan has won his second State League Club Champion award at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Saturday night.

The veteran held off first-year ruckman Reilly O’Brien and key forward James Podsiadly, who polled maximum votes in the final two rounds to claim third in the count.

Dean Bailey Award winner Matthew Spencely finished fourth ahead of fellow development player Luke Carey of Echunga.

Midfield trio Jarryd Lyons, Mitch Grigg and Sam Kerridge followed in close succession despite all three missing significant portions of the SANFL season.

Rookie-listed pair Keenan Ramsey and Anthony Wilson rounded out the top 10.

After winning last year’s inaugural State League Club Champion honour, Callinan once again led from the front on and off the field for the SANFL Crows in 2015.

The 32-year-old played all 18 matches, averaging 20 disposals, four marks and four clearances a game. He also booted 15 goals for the season.

Callinan was second in the SANFL for score assists, seventh for inside 50ms, and led the SANFL Crows for total disposals and contested possessions.

The four-time SANFL premiership player also relished greater responsibility amongst Adelaide’s coaching ranks, particularly in mentoring the Club’s 27-man development squad.

The popular forward represented South Australia for the second time this year and kicked two goals in SA’s loss to Western Australia in May.

Callinan is now a five-time best and fairest at State League level. He was twice a winner with Central District (2007, 2010) and took top honours with the Tasmanian Devils in the VFL in 2005.

The 2010 Jack Oatey Medallist played 32 games and kicked 49 goals in three seasons on Adelaide’s AFL list before being named as the Club’s inaugural SANFL captain in 2014.

He announced he and his family plan to return to Tasmania next year.

Adelaide’s four-man coaching panel awarded votes to every SANFL player after each game from 0-5, with 20 votes the maximum to be earned from a single round.
