Adelaide’s prestigious Best Team Man award has been renamed in honour of late senior coach Phil Walsh.

Crows chairman Rob Chapman announced the decision at the Club Champion dinner.

Walsh, appointed as Adelaide’s senior coach last October, passed away on July 3 this year.

“It is named after Phil Walsh as it perfectly fits with one of his mantras being team-first,” Chapman said. “There are many ways to honour his contribution but this seemed the most logical and appropriate.

“Walshy’s influence on the ‘team first’ approach was significant and he drove it to become one of the key values across the whole organisation, not just the football team.”

The Best Team Man award has been won by players including Mark Bickley (three times), Mark Ricciuto (twice), Mark Stevens (twice) and last year by Taylor Walker.
