Adelaide will open its 2016 SANFL premiership season in an Easter Saturday blockbuster against reigning premiers West Adelaide.

The Club’s third SANFL campaign will begin at 2.10pm at City Mazda Stadium on Saturday, March 26. It is the only SANFL game scheduled for Easter Saturday.

The SANFL Crows defeated West Adelaide by 63 points in the last meeting between the two teams in Round 15 last season. It was Adelaide’s first win over the Bloods since entering the competition in 2014.

Norwood and Port Adelaide will kick off the 2016 SANFL season in a Thursday night clash at The Parade on March 24.

Two games will be contested on Good Friday for the first time. South Adelaide will host Glenelg at Noarlunga, while Central District and North Adelaide will meet at Elizabeth.

Former Crow Martin Mattner will begin his SANFL coaching career with Sturt on Easter Monday when the Double Blues welcome this year’s minor premiers Woodville-West Torrens to Peter Motley Oval.

Next year’s State Game against the VFL has also been confirmed for Sunday, May 29 at Adelaide Oval. Inaugural Crows coach Graham Cornes will coach the team for the second consecutive year.

The full SANFL fixture will be released on Saturday morning with a complete wrap of Adelaide’s schedule available on afc.com.au.
