Adelaide has recalled key defender Kyle Hartigan for Saturday’s Showdown XL at Adelaide Oval.

The Crows have opted to take three tall defenders into their first home game of the 2016 season to help cover a Port Adelaide forward line which has this year added 202cm Charlie Dixon to the mix, alongside Jay Schulz.

Hartigan’s return at the expense of Nathan van Berlo was the only change to the 22 which went down to North Melbourne by ten points last Saturday night.

Hartigan played all of the AFL pre-season games this year but started the season in the SANFL, where he was impressive in Adelaide’s 74-point win over West Adelaide.

He will offer support to 2014 Club Champion Daniel Talia, who will play his 100th AFL game on Saturday.

Riley Knight, Jarryd Lyons and Sam Shaw were listed as the emergencies.

Saturday’s Showdown will be the 40th clash between the South Australian rivals. Port Adelaide is ahead on the overall ledger with 21 wins to Adelaide’s 18.

The curtain-raiser will be a game between South Australia’s best women’s footballers in the third annual SANFL All-Stars match. The game starts at 10.15am, shortly after the Adelaide Oval gates open.

Draftee Tom Doedee will make his Crows debut for Adelaide in the SANFL Showdown at Mannum on Sunday.

Lyons and van Berlo are the other additions to the side which opened the season with a 74-point win over West Adelaide last Saturday.

Ticketed Crows members receive free entry to all of the Club’s minor-round SANFL games.
