Josh Jenkins has been recognised in the AFL’s Team of the Week following his eight-goal effort against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.

Jenkins was the top goalkicker in the competition for Round Seven after booting eight straight majors from 13 possessions. The 199cm Crow also took seven marks, including three contested and five inside forward 50.

His performance moved him into equal-third place in the Coleman Medal race with 23 majors for the season. Jenkins also produced his best-ever AFL Fantasy score with 109 points.

The former rookie was the only Crow to earn votes from Don Pyke and Luke Beveridge in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.

It was Jenkins’ second appearance in AFL Media’s Team of the Week this season. He was again the only Crow to be recognised in Adelaide’s loss to North Melbourne in Round One after booting five goals.

Jenkins was named at full-forward in the Round Seven Team of the Week, flanked by Sydney Swans duo Lance Franklin and Isaac Heeney in the two forward pockets.

Sydney, St Kilda, Carlton, Greater Western Sydney, Melbourne, Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs all had two representatives. Geelong and Hawthorn led the way with three players each in the Round Seven side.

Rory Laird (three times), Rory Sloane, Rory Atkins, Scott Thompson, Tom Lynch and Eddie Betts are the other Crows who have been recognised in AFL Media’s Team of the Week throughout the course of the season so far.
