Adelaide coach Don Pyke is confident in-form forward Josh Jenkins will remain a Crow next season.

Reports have suggested rival clubs could approach Jenkins with long-term deals to try and lure the athletic tall away from West Lakes next season.

But Pyke told reporters in Adelaide on Wednesday that Jenkins was a required player in his future plans.

"On Josh Jenkins, it's with list management, it's an ongoing, work in progress and I'm going to leave it with them to get that deal done as soon as they can,'' Pyke said.

''Clearly he's a wanted player and Josh is on the record saying he wants to stay and play, so we'll let the list managers and the guys get the job done.

"My understanding is that it's working through the process.

''The parties are in discussions to conclude a civil arrangement for both and hopefully that will be sorted out pretty shortly."

Jenkins is Adelaide’s leading goalkicker this season with 26 majors, including a career-high bag of eight against the Western Bulldogs. The 27-year-old is off contract at the end of the year, but isn't eligible for free agency.

He will again be called on to lead from the front when the Crows attempt to stop Greater Western Sydney at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

The Giants are chasing their seventh-straight victory and are building a case as a legitimate premiership contender.

"They're 7-2 and (have) won their last six in a row, so clearly they're in good form and confident,'' Pyke said.

''It's going to be a real test.''

One of the keys for the Crows will be limiting the impact of Giants defender Heath Shaw, who had a staggering 36 kicks against the Bulldogs last week.

''We've got some options – do we play a defensive forward on him, or do we see how he goes and take it from there?'' Pyke said.

''I think we'll try and play on the edge this week and make sure we're really strong in terms of all the contests.

''I don't know if we'll necessary target individuals, that's generally not our way.''

Defender Rory Laird trained with the main group on Wednesday and is a chance of returning after missing the past three games due to a toe injury.

''We've just got (to make) a decision on Rory if the break he's had allows him enough training to be ready to go come Saturday, or whether he might need a bit of extra time,'' Pyke said.

''We'll see how he pulls up tomorrow morning as well as after today's session.''

Midfielder Brad Crouch impressed with 37 touches in the SANFL last week, but isn't guaranteed of being recalled to the Crows' side that easily accounted for Gold Coast.

"It was a good hit-out for him,'' Pyke said.

''It was more about continuity and getting him to play the way we know he's capable of playing.

''There were some positive signs last week, which was good.''
