Rory Laird and David Mackay are both expected to be available for selection this week.

Laird, 22, has missed the past four games with a fractured toe.

The rebounding defender completed Adelaide’s main training session last Wednesday in a bid to play against GWS, but the Club staff opted to give him another week on the track to build fitness.

Mackay, 27, injured his hamstring in the Round Seven loss to the Western Bulldogs.

Crows GM of High Performance Brett Burton said Laird and Mackay were both on track to return.

“Both of those guys have been rehabilitating really well and are looking forward to a full week on the track,” Burton said.

“As long as they both get through that, they’ll be available to play this week.”

Forward Riley Knight and first-year defender Alex Keath will also aim to prove their fitness at training ahead of Saturday’s SANFL clash with Sturt at Unley.

Knight has been troubled with a sore ankle, while Keath has missed a few weeks with a knee complaint. Sam Shaw will continue to be assessed as he recovers from a concussion.

Recruit Curtly Hampton is also edging closer to a comeback following foot surgery.

Hampton will progress his training load with the aim of being fit to play after the mid-season bye.

“Curtly is progressing well from that plantar fascia surgery,” Burton said.

“He’s been running strongly on the track and we look forward to him continuing that. He should be available after the bye.”
