Paul Seedsman added his name to a unique list with his choice of attire in Sunday’s twilight clash with St Kilda.

Seedsman donned a long-sleeve Crows guernsey in the match against the Saints at Adelaide Oval. The ex-Magpie wore the sleeves regularly at his former club, but Sunday marked the first time ‘Seed’ tried out the tri-colours version this season.

The long sleeves are a rare sight in the modern game, but remain a favourite with many football traditionalists who recall the cotton-stitched jerseys of yesteryear.

While no ‘official’ records exist for players who have worn the sleeves over the journey, photographic evidence proves several of Adelaide’s biggest names have given them a go, including Brownlow Medallist Mark Ricciuto, Club games record holder Andrew McLeod and inaugural Club Champion Mark Mickan.

The fashion appears to be a particular favourite with the forwards though, with the likes of Darren Jarman, Scott Welsh, Peter Vardy, Troy Bond, Ian Perrie and Matthew Robran all spotted in the sleeves throughout their careers.

Some, like Ricciuto, McLeod and Edwards, only donned the long sleeves in the early stages of their careers, while others, such as Bassett and the Jarmans, wore them regularly almost as a badge of honour.

Crows fans no doubt wait in anticipation to see whether Paul Seedsman will continue to carry the mantle as the Club’s long-sleeves leader.
