Wayne Milera Junior will confront his old side for the first time when Adelaide tackles Central District on Saturday at My Money House Oval.

A former Central District junior, Milera played 11 league games with the Bulldogs last season before he was selected by Adelaide at November’s National Draft. The 18-year-old returns to SANFL level after serving as the travelling emergency for the Club’s clash with West Coast a fortnight ago.

Milera will start in a forward pocket in his second game of the year for the SANFL Crows. The speedster booted three goals from 22 possessions against South Adelaide in Round Six in his last state league appearance.

Nathan van Berlo further strengthens Adelaide’s SANFL team after overcoming a foot complaint.

The veteran Crow, who has featured at both AFL and SANFL level this year, has been named alongside acting captain Andy Otten at half-back and will add experience and leadership to Adelaide’s young SANFL backline.

Port District captain Trent Heffernan and former West Adelaide junior Dylan Ribbons, who played four games with the SANFL Crows last year, have also been added to an extended interchange which must be reduced to a three-man bench on game day.

Tough onballer Brad Crouch was promoted to Adelaide’s senior team for Thursday night’s clash with North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.

Mature-aged rookie Jonathon Beech was a late withdrawal on game day with soreness. Development player Matthew Leigh will return to local club Athelstone this weekend.

The winner of Saturday’s duel at Elizabeth will cement their place inside the top five and move three games clear of sixth place on the SANFL ladder. Read the full match preview
