Peter Endersbee, the three-time Sturt premiership player famous for kicking checkside goals from the scoreboard pocket at Adelaide Oval, has died.

Endersbee is part of SANFL folklore for booting two checkside punt goals from the northeastern boundary in the 1968 grand final.

A Crows fan, Endersbee returned to the redeveloped Adelaide Oval for the first time in 2014 and amazingly watched Eddie Betts kick two checkside goals from the same pocket to help Adelaide defeat Port in Showdown 37.

He died in England on Monday, aged 67.

An afc.com.au article about Endersbee, his return to Adelaide Oval to watch the Adelaide Crows, and his fondness of Betts won the SANFL Media best feature award in 2014.

“I love Eddie,” Endersbee said. “I was happy to be there, in the Max Basheer Stand, and I have to admit it occurred to me that was the spot where I kicked those two goals from … it was the identical spot between the pocket and the half-forward flank. It was a long distance for a checkside … 40 metres you know.”
