Rory Sloane has slipped to second in the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year award.

For the first time this season, no Adelaide player polled a vote from the coaches. Geelong veteran Corey Enright was recognised for his dominance across half-back, scoring a perfect 10.

Enright, who will break the Club’s games record this weekend, amassed 31 possessions and six marks to be the most influential player in his team’s 30-point win.

Another decorated Cat, Jimmy Bartel, was awarded seven votes. Bartel won nine clearances and generated eight inside 50ms with his 34 disposals. Former Crow Patrick Dangerfield, who topped the possession count with 36, received six votes to reclaim the overall lead from Sloane. Joel Selwood held onto fourth place after earning four votes against Adelaide.

Geelong’s four-goal forwards Daniel Menzel (two) and Tom Hawkins (one) rounded out the voting.

Enright was one of only four players to receive maximum votes in Round 18. Sydney Swans midfielder Josh Kennedy, Gold Coast Sun Alex Sexton and Brisbane Lions ball magnet Tom Rockliff were the others to receive 10 votes.

Sloane (80) trails Dangerfield (85) by five votes and is only one clear of in-form Richmond star Dustin Martin (79). St Kilda midfielder Jack Steven was one of the biggest movers of the round, climbing into sixth place after his 39-possession game against the Western Bulldogs.
