Crows players teamed up with kids from Kidman Park Primary School on Friday to do their bit for the environment.
The entire playing group worked with the school’s students to plant trees for Schools Tree Day – Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature care event.
The event is organised by Planet Ark in partnership with Crows partner Toyota and its national dealer network, which provides on the ground support at local community tree planting sites Australia-wide.
Through Schools Tree Day and National Tree Day, which falls two days after on Sunday 31st July, Planet Ark and Toyota hope to educate the nation on the value and importance in preserving the environment.
The event is responsible for the planting of more than 23 million trees throughout Australia since its inception in 1996.
Midfielder Rory Sloane said the players enjoyed being part of the day each year.
“It’s always a great initiative to be part of and I know Toyota love being involved,” Sloane said.
“Each year we get out to a different school and it’s great to show kids how to plant a tree and it gets us outdoors too.
“I’m a bit of a greenie, I do like to mow the lawns but ‘Thommo’ (Scott Thompson) definitely takes the cake at the Club – his lawns are immaculate.”
As part of its global commitment to sustainability, Toyota has sponsored National Tree Day for the past fifteen years.
“Toyota has a long tradition of supporting local communities and National Tree Day is a great way for us to give something back,” said Toyota Marketing Manager, Felicity Henshaw.
Kidman Park Primary School won the opportunity for players to attend the school after Brodie Smith won the Toyota Torrens Kicking Competition in June to celebrate the Adelaide Football Club and Toyota Australia extending their longstanding partnership.
Smith nominated Kidman Park as the school he was kicking for in the competition.
