Two-time Crows Premiership player Nigel Smart and Paralympic Gold Medallist Katrina Webb OAM are teaming up to host a special screening of the family movie Pete’s Dragon (PG) to support children in need – and they’re encouraging Club supporters to get involved.

The movie screening, to be held at Wallis Cinemas Mitcham on Sunday, October 9 at 3.30pm, will specifically assist the Crows Children’s Foundation to support Childreach Nepal in its work rebuilding earthquake ravaged schools in Nepal.

Smart and Webb are leading the fundraiser ahead of a group trek to Mt Everest Base Camp later in October.

Each trekker taking part, including Smart and Webb, is raising a minimum of $1,000 to support the Crows Children’s Foundation and the people of Nepal, who are still reeling from the 2015 earthquake which killed more than 8,000 people.

Tickets to the special movie fundraiser are $20 for adults and $10 for children and are available to purchase here.

The first 50 kids booked in will receive a free Crows goodie bag, including a footy, tote bag, stickers and more! There will also be a raffle on the day with a Crows guernsey up for grabs.

Plus, if you would like to separately support Nigel and Katrina in their ongoing fundraising, please follow their Everyday Hero fundraising pages here:

Pete's Dragon (PG) - Movie overview

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest.

To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales … until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley).

Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories.

With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local timber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
