The Adelaide Football Club has strengthened its commitment to education in the APY Lands by signing an MOU with the State Government and with the Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Education Committee (PYEC).

The agreement will see the Crows work with the Department of Education and Indigenous communities on the APY Lands and Far West Coast (Anangu Lands)  to help further the learning opportunities for Aboriginal children living in remote parts of the state.

Adelaide will support this through the Club’s Ready, Set, Crow (RSC) program which works with children and young people from the Anangu Lands to support positive educational outcomes.

The RSC Project, in partnership with Wiltja Residential Boarding facility, encourages students and their families to experience short term stays in Adelaide, with transitional support and guidance provided by both the AFC and Wiltja teams.

Students experience life in a metropolitan high school, at Wiltja Boarding, and participate in leadership and mentoring sessions at the Adelaide Football Club.

The Memorandum of Understanding is the first of its kind between AFC, the Department of Education and Child Development (DECD) and the Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara  Education Committee (PYEC).

Crows Chief Executive Officer Andrew Fagan said the MOU was another step for the Club’s industry leading Indigenous programs.

“The Adelaide Football Club is committed to engaging and empowering Indigenous youth with education being an important part of that,” Fagan said.

“We are really proud of the work we do with Indigenous communities and this MOU further strengthens the partnerships in place.”
