Adelaide has lost key forward Josh Jenkins to injury at the 10-minute mark of the first quarter after he clashed with Hawthorn first-gamer Teia Miles in a marking contest at the MCG.

Jenkins fell to ground clutching his ribs and was slow to get to his feet with play being held up for a minute.

He walked slowly from the ground with the trainers and went down to the rooms immediately for assessment with paramedics heading into the rooms soon after.

The 28-year-old kicked three goals in the opening game against Greater Western Sydney.
