Crows fans will have the opportunity to support Australian Olympic BMX rider Sam Willoughby at the Club’s only 2017 SANFL home game at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval on Saturday, April 29.

Late last year the Club decided to dedicate the Round Four match, which is the first SANFL Showdown of the season against Port Adelaide, to support the 25-year-old’s recovery from a serious spinal injury.

The South Australian, who is a passionate Crows Ambassador and a long-time friend of the Club, is currently undergoing rehabilitation after fracturing multiple vertebrae in a freak training accident in September 2016.

Seven months after the accident Willoughby continues to make good progress with his rehabilitation and his family says he has been buoyed by the support he has received.

The Crows will host a range of fundraising initiatives at the match such as raffles and auctions, as well as donating all gate takings to Willoughby’s ‘Road 2 Recovery’ fund.

Willoughby’s family and friends have also organised a special Strength for 91 function to be held on the day, with tickets available for the general public to purchase for $70.

The function begins at 12noon and provides finger food and entertainment in a private room with a viewing deck for the game.

Adelaide would like to acknowledge both the Port Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens Football Clubs for their cooperation in arranging the initiative.
