For the second straight week, no Adelaide player received votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.

Melbourne completed a clean sweep of the votes after recording a 41-point win over the Crows at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

Demons co-captain Jack Viney scored a perfect 10 for his performance, which included 30 possessions, 12 tackles, seven clearances and a goal. Viney was one of five players to poll maximum votes in Round Eight.

St Kilda small forward Jack Billings, Greater Western Sydney wingman Josh Kelly, Fremantle livewire Michael Walters and Sydney Swans skipper Josh Kenney also received 10 votes.

Creative Dees defender Michael Hibberd, who collected a team-high 34 disposals and nine rebound 50ms, was judged the next-best player on Saturday night by coaches Don Pyke and Simon Goodwin.

In a reflection of Melbourne’s midfield dominance, onballers Clayton Oliver (five), Christian Petracca (five) and Bernie Vince (two), who had the job on Rory Sloane, all attracted votes.

The overall leader after seven rounds, Sloane has slipped to second spot on the leaderboard behind West Coast utility Elliot Yeo.

Yeo was awarded five votes in his team’s win over the Western Bulldogs to take his season total to 43 and leapfrog Sloane (42).
