Crows AFLW premiership player Jenna McCormick is set to return to the international sporting stage during the AFLW off season.

McCormick has signed a contract with Norway’s first division soccer club Medkila, which is based in Harstad in the north of the country.

The 22-year-old, who also plays soccer in the W-League with Canberra United, will join Medkila in August for the second half of the season. She will return to Adelaide in November for the commencement of the AFLW pre-season.

It’s the second time Mt Gambier-born McCormick has played soccer internationally. In 2016 she competed in Iceland’s premier female soccer competition where she won the Úrvalsdeild kvenna title with Stjarnan.

Currently in the US on holiday, McCormick said she was delighted to be able to continue to play both sports at the highest level.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to join Medkila and play soccer abroad once more,” McCormick said.

“Playing in Iceland last year was an amazing experience and I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from my time in Norway.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of helping Medkila climb the ladder, before returning to Adelaide towards the end of the year to compete in the second AFLW season with the Crows.”

Crows Senior Coach Bec Goddard said the Club was supportive of McCormick continuing to pursue both codes.

“It’s a real credit to Jenna that she is able to compete at the highest level in both football and soccer,” Goddard said.

“We wish her all the best during her time in Norway and look forward to seeing her impact during the second season of the AFL Women’s Competition.”
