On Saturday, members of Adelaide’s SANFL Development Squad will participate in the inaugural Fast Footy competition.

The tournament at Norwood Oval will feature a new game with new rules, including 10 minute quarters, unlimited interchanges, a last touch out of bounds rule and nine-point super goals.

Only 12 players are allowed on field, and they are split into midfielders, defenders and forwards that can’t leave their designated zones.

These changes are designed to make a fast and fierce brand of football.

Adelaide will play two matches on Saturday, one against North Adelaide at 2.25pm and then against Norwood at 5.10pm.

Finals will occur after the last match.

Adelaide’s squad is made up of players who have been training with the team and are likely to be included in the SANFL Development Squad for 2018, which will be finalised by the end of next week.

Blake Launer and Matt Spencely have re-joined the Crows SANFL squad from rural towns Eudunda and Waikerie respectively.

A couple of the squad members have previously played for other SANFL teams, including Corey Davey, Doug Hadden and Michael McMahon.

Along with the football, there will be activations to make for a family-fun day out, including face painting, a dunk tank, a DJ, giveaways, a photo booth, food trucks and more.

Entry is free on the day.
