Adelaide’s Rory Sloane, Gold Coast forward Tom Lynch and West Coast intercept king Jeremy McGovern headline the AFL's official list of this year's free agents.

Eleven of the 51 remaining free agents are restricted, meaning they have served at least eight years with their club and are paid in the top 25 per cent of salaries where they play.

Sloane, Lynch and McGovern all have restricted status and rival teams are expected to go hard at the trio throughout the season.

Under AFL rules, restricted and unrestricted free agents may consider offers from rival clubs during the post-season period.

An unrestricted free agent may automatically move to the club of his choice, whereas a restricted free agent may be matched by his club.

The AFL will award compensation in the form of a draft pick to a club that loses a player through free agency if that club has not gained a player the same way.
