Richard Douglas has been offered a one-week suspension for rough conduct on Essendon midfielder Zach Merrett.

The incident occurred in the first quarter of Adelaide’s loss to the Bombers at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

Merrett was concussed and took no further part in the game.

Based on the match day report and speaking to umpire RobO’Gorman, who laid the report, the available video evidence and a medicalreport from the Essendon Football Club, the incident was assessed as carelessconduct with medium impact to the head.

In summary, the offence is judged as a one-match sanctionwithout appearing before the Tribunal.

Crows Head of Football Brett Burton said the Club would consider its options ahead of Monday’s deadline.

“We need to thoroughly review vision of the incident, source all relevant information and liaise with the AFL before settling on our position,” Burton said.
