Inaugural Rising Star Ebony Marinoff has re-signed with the Adelaide Football Club for the 2019 AFLW season.

Adelaide was able to secure the 20-year-old midfielder ahead of the official AFLW sign and trade period after she received an offer from an expansion club.

Drafted with Adelaide’s first pick in the 2017 AFLW Draft, Marinoff has established herself as a vital member of the Crows team.

Known for her physicality and pressure, the 2017 premiership player and All Australian finished in the top three in the Crows’ Club Champion Award in the first two seasons.

Marinoff said she was excited for the 2019 season.

“I’m really happy at Adelaide. It’s a great Club and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve next season,” Marinoff said.

“Our playing group has formed a really strong bond and ultimately I felt that staying at home with the Crows was the best fit for me.”

The signing period for the AFLW’s expansion clubs – Geelong and North Melbourne – commenced on Friday, May 11 and will continue until 5pm Monday, May 21.

During this window the expansion clubs can approach players, with the players’ 2018 clubs having the right to make a counter offer.

The sign and trade period for the eight foundation AFLW clubs runs from Wednesday, May 23 until Monday, June 4.

Currently, AFLW clubs can only contract players on a season-by-season basis.

The League is yet to determine the format of next year’s competition.
