Rory Laird has topped the coaches’ votes for Round 17 following his stellar 43-disposal game while three other Crows polled after Adelaide defeated Geelong by 15 points on Thursday night.

Laird received nine votes from Don Pyke and Chris Scott for his performance which saw the All Australian half-back amass 28 uncontested possessions and six rebound 50s.

The coaches also gave five votes each to Rory Sloane, Tom Lynch, and Wayne Milera Junior.

Fresh off re-signing for five more years, Sloane was a competitive beast, collecting 27 disposals, 17 contested possessions, nine inside 50s, eight clearances and seven tackles while he also kicked a key goal that saw the Adelaide Oval crowd erupt.

Up forward, Lynch was at his best with four goals and 22 disposals at 90 per cent efficiency, and with 14 contested possessions and five marks (including three inside 50s).

Milera put together one of his best games for the Club with 23 disposals at 91 per cent efficiency.

Geelong players rounded out the votes with Joel Selwood (three), Patrick Dangerfield (two) and Tom Hawkins (one) all earning votes.

Following his nine-vote performance, Laird sits equal ninth on the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Leaderboard with 46 votes. Melbourne’s Max Gawn leads with 71 votes.
