Coach Don Pyke is ready to face a firing forward line in Brisbane and is hopeful key defender Daniel Talia will be ready to play and cut off their goal kickers.

“They’ve got some good forwards whether it’s [Eric] Hipwood or [Daniel] McStay, the big guy [Oscar] McInerney as well,” Pyke told reporters on Wednesday.

“They’ve got some good targets, probably more the reason why we’d like him [Daniel Talia] to play.

“But we’ve got to make sure he’s right.

“He certainly did enough today to suggest it’s worth moving forward later in the week and make the decision then.”

On the back of three straight wins, a rare feat for the Lions in recent years, Brisbane is one of the in-form teams of the competition.

Their upset 33-point win over fellow top eight hopefuls Hawthorn shows they are here to make a statement at the tail end of the season.

Pyke says he is looking forward to the clash with a Brisbane side that is enjoying the success of rising talents and has regained long lost momentum.

“Obviously won their last three… first time for a while they’ve won three in a row,” Pyke said.

“The really impressive part is their contest work is really strong and their forward line’s pretty efficient.

“Got some high talent on the list and that’s all starting to come together and they’ve played some good footy.

“It’s going to be a good challenge, a really good challenge for us.”
