Made a smooth transition into the Crows’ State League side after an eight-year hiatus from competitive football. The Category B rookie played every game of the season, impressing in roles through the midfield and half-forward. The former basketballer showed strong physicality and developed his ball skills throughout the year, averaging 16 disposals and kicking 25 goals from 21 games. The gifted athlete showed he enjoys the big stage with a string of strong performances during the Club’s maiden SANFL finals series. Finished sixth in the State League Club Champion award and will be targeting an even bigger 2017 season.

A former US College basketball star, Greenwood made the life-changing decision to retire from the game and pursue an AFL career as a Category B Rookie at the Crows in September. The athletic left-footer hasn’t played football competitively for eight years, but starred at under-age level before accepting a basketball scholarship at the age of 15. Represented his state at the Under-16 AFL National Championships as a ‘bottom-age’ player, showing promise as both a forward and midfielder. His late grandfather, Peter Marquis, played in three consecutive VFL premierships with Melbourne (1955-57) in his 99 games, and also represented Victoria. Will take time, but has grown up in a high-performance environment and is driven to succeed.
