After being unable to force his way into the senior team in 2016, Kelly missed only one game through injury last season. The reliable and competitive defender continued to make life difficult for his opponents and also improved the attacking side of his game, averaging an elite disposal efficiency of 84 per cent. He also ranked fifth at the Club for intercept possessions.

The strength of Adelaide’s defensive unit meant the former rookie was unable to add to his AFL games tally in 2016. But the competitive backman showed great tenacity and leadership in a consistent SANFL campaign. In 18 SANFL games, Kelly averaged 20 disposals at an impressive 81 per cent efficiency. He also was also crucial in generating offence for the Crows, ranking second for the team in rebound 50ms (42), third in effective kicks (156) and fourth in marks (96). Will be eager to return to the senior side in 2017.

Season by Season

Was the first of four Crows to make their AFL debut in 2015, with Kelly earning a starting spot in Adelaide's Round Three clash with Melbourne. Renowned for his thirst for the contest, Kelly laid 10 tackles and collected seven possessions in his maiden match. The left-footer held his spot for the next nine games and showed signs of a promising future ahead, highlighted by a 22-possession game in Round Seven against St Kilda. Upgraded to the senior list for 2016 and rewarded with a two-year contract extension.

Season by Season

Kelly was one of the shining lights in Adelaide’s SANFL team in 2014. The competitive defender stood some of the state’s best forwards and rarely had his colours lowered. He also found plenty of the ball, averaging 16 possessions across all 18 games and also led the side for total marks (101). Kelly was recognised with joint second place in Adelaide’s State League Club Champion award.

Season by Season

Selected in the Rookie Draft, Kelly is a medium-sized defender with excellent endurance, which saw him finish third in the three-kilometre time-trial at the Draft Combine. The Oakleigh Chargers recruit is a willing worker with great attention to detail. Son of former Collingwood and Norwood defender, Craig.
